The Wauwatosa Community Band provides performing opportunities for area musicians who enjoy playing in a large concert band. Two to four concerts are performed each year to an enthusiastic, appreciative audience. The Community Band also performs for Wauwatosa’s Memorial Day observance.
If you haven’t already, please join our mailing list and we will send information and discount coupons for upcoming events! The calendar is also a great resource for the current rehearsal and concert schedule.
All rehearsals are held Tuesday evenings at 7:00pm in the Longfellow middle school band room. Everyone is welcome. No auditions are required and you are not required to live in Wauwatosa. Chair placements happen rarely and really only if we have a section that needs sorting out. New members, please come a little early to introduce yourself and receive music. Rehearsals generally end around 8:15pm.
Longfellow Middle School is across from the Wauwatosa Public Library, the address of the school is:
7600 W North Ave
Wauwatosa, WI 53213-1719
The band room and auditorium are upstairs on the south end of the school. When the band performs in the cafeteria, you can find it located on the lower level of the school. Street parking on North Avenue is limited so additional parking is available in the East or North parking lots. Parking lot entrances are on the first floor, so make your way up to the second floor to find the auditorium and band room. If entering from the North Avenue entrance (South), you are already on the second floor and both are right in that vicinity.
The concert band typically performs 4 concerts per school year. A Children’s Halloween concert (kids are encouraged to come dressed in costume), a Christmas concert before winter break, a mid-winter concert in March, and a spring concert in May. The concert band also performs for the Memorial Day observance for the City of Wauwatosa each year.
Tosa Jazz will occasionally make appearances for Concert Band performances and more information can be found on the Tosa Jazz Page.
